Skin Advocate iPhone App

Skin Advocate - IconThe Skin Advocate iPhone app is a free application for iPhone compatible-devices that helps people with skin conditions and hair loss conditions connect with the appropriate non-profit patient advocacy organizations, resources and support, to help them live successfully with their conditions. It also streamlines referrals to patient advocacy groups for every physician treating skin disease and also for every dermatology patient.

The Skin Advocate app was designed and developed by Dr. Arianne Shadi Kourosh, Dr. Evan Schoenberg, Dr. Jean Dejace, and Dr. Paul Bergstresser.

The app is now officially sponsored by the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID), and has been officially endorsed by the American Academy of Dermatology and the Dermatology Nurses Association.

The Skin Advocate App provides immediate access to contact information for dermatology patient advocacy groups in the Coalition of Skin Diseases (CSD).  The Coalition of Skin is a coalition of non-profit organizations that that advocate on behalf of individuals with skin diseases. They promote education and awareness, fund research, and meet with members of Congress to impact legislation that will help people living with skin disease, and they are officially endorsed by the American Academy of Dermatology, Society for Investigative Dermatology and the Dermatology Nurses Association. The information for the specific patient advocacy organization that a person requires can be quickly and anonymously emailed to patients and other interested persons with links to learn more and register for the patient advocacy organization of their interest in 1 click.

To use the Skin Advocate app, first click on the icon on the home screen of your iPhone-compatible device:

The app will then open to a menu of patient advocacy organizations in the Coalition of Skin Diseases and then the user can choose the organization for the skin condition or hair condition needed:

One can also use the Skin Advocate app to contact the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID), the non-profit organization of Dermatology physicians and researchers that now sponsors the app (

Once the user choose the appropriate patient advocacy organization from the menu, one can then touch the “Share” button at the top right corner of the screen to send this information via email by typing the recipients email into the the window that appears:

The email will come from the Society for Investigative Dermatology’s server, so the personal email address of the sender will not be included.

On your iOS device, you can view a brief synopsis of the organization’s goals, the website, contact information for the organization’s patient advocacy contacts, and more.
You can also print it to an iOS-compatible wireless printer if a hard copy of the information is needed.  Here is a link to download the app:
